My children loved microwave popcorn but I had serious concerns about the chemicals used in the processing. We tried stovetop cooking but I couldn't allow my children to make the popcorn themselves because of the hot oil. This popper has been such a great addition since the kids can cook their own natural popcorn. Since they loved microwave butter flavored popcorn so much I didn't think they would take to this as much as they have.

They love it and I no longer feel guilty about letting eat popcorn to their hearts content. We don't have problems with the stray kernel which shoots out. The kids actually get a big laugh out of it. Their friends are fascinated by the popper too.

I've tried several air poppers over the years, and I've come back to Presto. I had one years ago and it was lost in a move. My uncle used to make us hot-air popcorn in one of the earlier Presto poppers back in the early 80's that had a metal butter melter that went in the back. Those were made a little sturdier than this generation, but the result is the same. You have to expect a few kernels to fly out when they start popping - I haven't seen an air popper yet that doesn't do that. The butter doesn't always melt fully when the popcorn's done, but again - every brand I've ever tried does the same. This one doesn't burn kernels unless you let it run a really long time. Other brands burn kernels more easily. No, it's not perfect, but you'd be hard pressed to find one that works better than this, especially for the price.

I recently got a poplite and used for the first time and all I have to say is WOW!! Popcorn tastes so good without all that oil and salt. I can't think back to a time when I enjoyed popcorn this much. PLUS an added bonus this popcorn is good for you and it makes a great guilt free snack, and it is cheap, you can find popcorn a bargain stores for $.77 for 2lbs. That is a months worth of popcorn. So take it from me a popcorn lover, this is the only machine you need, throw the microwave out and get this!
